Why Fund it?

The ICCL Human Rights Film Awards is Ireland’s only human rights short film competition, bringing together the best in filmmaking with passionate human rights advocates to show how the arts, especially film, can be used to raise awareness about human rights and to inspire people to make a difference – in their communities and in the world around them.

This is the 5th annual Human Rights Film Awards. To mark the occasion, we are organising a very special gala screening and awards ceremony in Dublin’s Light House Cinema on Thursday, 20 June, where the shortlisted films will be screened and the winner and runners-up will be announced. The evening is a unique opportunity for the filmmakers to highlight their creative work, and to put human rights issues centre stage.

By raising funds from our community of supporters, it means that we free up other funds from our core budget to do more to protect and promote human rights in Ireland. Our target this year is €4,000 and we’re asking you to help us beat it! We hope you will check out our excellent rewards packages and pledge a little or a lot. Remember, if we don't reach our target we don't get funded, so get pledging today!

Over to you!

ICCL to Address Convention on the Constitution on Provision for Same-Sex Marriage

The ICCL is greatly honoured to be invited to share our knowledge and expertise with the members of the Convention on the Constitution this weekend during its deliberations this Saturday (13 April 2013) on opening marriage up to same-sex couples. This weekend's discussion at the Convention on the Constitution is a golden opportunity to address one of the last bastions of legal discrimination in Ireland: the exclusion of same sex couples from full civil marriage.

You can follow both the Constitutional Convention webstream & twitter feed (#ccven) tomorrow centrally on our Hear Our Voices civil society initiative website: www.hearourvoices.ie.

Our submission to the Convention is available to read HERE.
